1 green florist's foam piece in pyramid shape, 12x4 inches
Instructions
Step 1
Push each kumquat onto end of toothpick; spear bay leaf with other end of toothpick.
Step 2
Push toothpicks into foam pyramid (with bay leaves against pyramid), starting at top and working downward in spiral fashion, until pyramid is completely filled.
Recipe Tips
Display your kumquat and bay leaf tree on a cake stand, and surround it with votive candles, citrus- and gold-colored ribbons and other citrus fruits.
A glue gun or long straight pins may be helpful for securing items to the foam.
Try one of these combinations instead of using kumquats and bay leaves:
• Rosemary-Cranberry Tree: Fresh rosemary sprigs and cranberries.
• Chocolate-Apricot Tree: Dried apricots with ends dipped in melted white chocolate for a snow-tipped effect.
• Nuts and Spice Tree: Miniature pinecones, whole almonds, star anise and stick cinnamon.
• Beads and Baubles Tree: Wrap a plastic foam pyramid with prestrung beads or wire by coiling from top to bottom. Top with a purchased gold star decoration.
